How it all started...

Ever since I can remember, I have loved needlework, tinkering and tinkering with various papers, threads and other materials. I fell in love with knotting only relatively recently, around 2016, when I started seeing pictures of beautiful modern knotting on the Pinterest platform. I started knotting 3 years later when I finally attended the course and knotted my first flower pot holder. At the time, I was on parental leave with my third daughter from my main job under the supervision of staff. After that, I devoted all my free time to knotting and tried everything in turn. What fascinated me the most was the association of knotting with the sea. In my opinion, the most valuable detail of wall decor is a tree branch washed by the sea.

I started looking for ropes to buy them as cheap, high-quality and closer to home as possible. At first, I painted the ropes myself, because I could not find where to buy industrially painted ropes in Latvia. I developed my knotting skills by knotting almost every day for at least 2 years, trying out different knots for which I found pictures and instructions on the internet. At the same time, I continued to search and research new ropes and materials for knotting. Later I returned to the basic work, I slowed down the knotting a bit. With the arrival of the fourth daughter in my life in 2023, I again got the opportunity to be at home more, I came to a new wave of knotting. Although it is quite difficult to knot in such a large family and with a small infant in arms, knotting is still a part of my life, home and identity.

My search for expression and discovery in knots and ropes continues daily. If I can't knot with my hands, I knot in my mind. While I don't have a lot of time to do knotting, I'm more involved in selling ropes and other materials and running workshops and master classes in knotting.

I have been sharing my journey in the world of knots and ropes on my Instagram and Facebook account @ancemezglojumi since 2019.

All in all, I can safely say that knotting and rope hunting is my dream job, which I didn't even know existed a few years ago!

Thank you to all my clients, media account followers and workshop visitors over the years. You are everything to me, because without you, none of what I do today would be possible!
